Before being a fugitive-caretaker for john sloan, Braun rodman worked as an engineer for the mayor of paradise, sid ahwem. Being a meta-human sympathist, Braun and the mayor's relationship inevitably became contentious forcing Braun to leave Ahwem's employ and go into hiding. Later on, with the help of pat makoski, he put together a plan to free john sloan from his stasis chamber prison and has been aiding Sloan in his quest to take down the villainous mayor ever since.
